SEMI-PRO FOOTBALL
The Georgia Ravens, a local semipro football team led by those from Jones County, will look to start the season 2-0 on Saturday in their home opener against the Cardinals.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Morris Bank Recreation Complex, and admission is $2.
“We’re excited. We’re looking forward to having a chance to continue a streak and continue building a winning culture,” said Ravens co-owner Ron Lee.
Lee and the team’s other player/co-owner Brandon Hamilton are excited not just for Saturday’s debut but to represent the county that they call home, as well.
“To be able to bring football to this community, it’s amazing,” Hamilton said. “We love having people come up to us and talk to us about the team and what we are doing. We want our community to understand that we’re not doing this for us. This is for them, as well.”
The Ravens will also be looking for their second shutout in a row.
“Fans can expect to see a good, action-packed football game with some big plays and familiar faces,” Hamilton said. “We’re looking forward to putting on a good show.”
