Grand Jury returns 22 true bills of indictment

SUPERIOR COURT

A Jones County Grand Jury met Oct. 10 and brought back true bills on all 22 bills of indictments they were presented.

The charges include seven counts of aggravated assault, with two of those against Henry Thomas Redd and Dontrelle Darnell Pitts, involving the assault of law enforcement officers. Pitts is also charged with two counts of obstruction of an officer in two separate cases.

Redd’s charges include drug possession, which oddly enough is the only drug charge among the Oct. 10 indictments. Redd’s Aug. 9 arrest included a pursuit involving both the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Gray Police Department.

Last week’s indictments included two individuals – Lisa Michelle Barnes and Bryan Hayward Bass – who are each facing four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals brought by the Gray Police Department.

Crimes against children include Vincent Andrew Ramirez who is charged with child molestation and aggravated child molestation and James C. Lail who is charged with sexual exploitation of children.

A complete list of the Oct. 10 indictments can be found on the open records page of this week’s edition.
