Turner Woods Elementary School recently hosted their fall festival to help raise funds for the school and to have a little fall fun.
Amber Ayers, coordinator of the event, said she was excited for the fall festival and to see so many families having fun at the school.
“We do this fall festival here at Turner Woods every year. It’s a good fundraiser for our school, and in the past, we bought printers for the school,” she said. “We also use the money to get the teachers lunches and different treats throughout the year. We try to do something big for the kids, too. We want to use the funds to help everybody.”
They had bounce houses, about 10 games for the students to play, inflatables, silent auction, face painting, a cake walk, and plenty of food. She said they started working on the event in August, so they could get everything ready.
“The kids were really excited about the event, and it looked like they had a great time. They always seem to enjoy this time of year and when we do these festivals,” Ayers said. The coordinator said the fall festival sponsors at Turner Woods Elementary School were McNeal Electrical Service, Tony Butss, Kamiyah Warren family, Lunsford Tree Service, Jenna Carr Alfa, Kristie’s School of Dance, Gunner Groves family, Gadd’s Animal Doctors of Gray, Tri-County EMC, Rogers Installation, Old Clinton BBQ, DPF Alternatives, 1st Choice Heating and Air, All In Hauling and Services, Children’s Delight Learning Center, Gray Dental, Greenergy Electric, Sentry Installations, West Clinton Tire, Caves family, Pools by Jeff, Amber Ayers Realtor, Scotty’s Muffler, Sonrise Ministries, Tri-Co Go, Chevy’s Pizza, Vineville Internal Medicine, Dairy Queen, Mr. Moonwalk, and Chandler Bros Ace Hardware. She said she wants to give a big thank you to all the sponsors.
Mackenzie Bento, a third-grade student who attends Turner Woods, said she likes fall, because the weather gets cooler and it’s not so hot out every day. She said she was excited to get Jack Skellington painted on her face and have fun at the fall festival with everyone else.
“I was excited to get my face painted and jump on the bounce houses. I was ready to get a snack. The fall festival was important, because we needed to have fun and be with each other here at Turner Woods,” the student said.
Ayers said the fall festival at Turner Woods Elementary School is important, because it’s one of their biggest fundraisers they have each year, and it’s a good family event. She said it’s a great way for families to see whattheschoolislikeand talktotheteacherswhile having family fun.
“My favorite thing was seeing how the kids reacted to that booger picker game,” she said. “I also loved the auction, because there were some good items. We just wanted everyone to have a good time and enjoy this cooler weather.”
