‘Be Pro, Be Proud’: JCHS hosts mini career fair

EDUCATION

The Jones County College & Career Academy in partnership with the Development Authority of Jones County presented the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Simulation and a mini career fair Oct. 26.

The Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop, a 40-foot rig that showcases numerous technical professions through gamified simulators, visited Jones County High School College and Career Academy. The Jones County College and Career Academy was proud to partner with the Development Authority of Jones County to bring this wonderful experience to approximately 300 first-year CTAE students in IT, Healthcare, Construction, Heavy Equipment Operator, Welding, and Engineering pathways.

Hands-on simulations in commercial truck driving, automation and robotics, healthcare, welding, plumbing and more were available to students.

JCCCA thanks student MVPs on the simulation, including: Dalton Reynolds – welding; Lucy Williams – healthcare; Lorabeth LaCourse – healthcare; Madison Banks – programing; and Julianna Dant – programing.

Additionally, a mini career fair with 11 local business and community partners allowed students to speak with individuals in the industry to gain insight on these high-wage, high-demand industries.

JCCCA thanks the following business partners for joining us to make this a wonderful opportunity as we work together to develop and retain our local talent: Atrium Health Navicent, Central Georgia Technical College, Elliott Machine Shop, First Environmental Nationwide, Massana Construction, Reeves Construction, Sellers Construction, Tekton Electrical Services, Tri- County EMC, Tri-Co Go and Yancey Brothers.
