GREYHOUND FOOTBALL

The threads made it official last week for Zion Ragins. The speedy Greyhounds receiver and two-time state track champion in the 100-meter run and once in the 200 meters was officially honored last week as an All American with the presentation of his jersey for the 24th Annual All-American Bowl. It will take place Jan. 6 in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas, and be broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock. Ragins’ jersey presentation was part of the bowl’s Road To The Dome Tour that will recognize the game’s 100 All Americans for this year in an eight-week period.

Ragins has previously committed to play for Oklahoma, choosing the Sooners earlier this year from a long list of teams that included Georgia and Florida State.

Ragins wrapped up his Greyhound football career with 2,923 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns. Three of his four seasons for Jones County included a touchdown catch of at least 80 yards.
