Real Life

“Count it all joy when you fall into various trials“ (Jam 1:2) Faith not tested is faith not proven. You will be tested in your Jesus walk.

Jesus was tested in the wilderness by the devil (Mt 4:1-11). He had been fasting 40 days and was weak from lack of food when the devil came to Him. Yet Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit you have in you as a believer, resisted the devil. Jesus passed His test.

The disciples were tested the night Jesus was arrested. They all failed, ran like rabbits, even after Jesus had for 3 years prepared them for the test. But they were later re-tested, and they all passed, laying down their lives for the faith.

Our testing is for the development of our faith, for our good, not our destruction. While God already knows how we are, the testing lets us know how we stand in our faith. Now Jesus may be quiet during the test because the teacher is always quiet during testing, but remember He is in control and praying for you (Lk 22:31-32).

Testing itself isn’t fun, but is necessary--in school, in work, in life, and in your Jesus faith. So, when the testing comes, rejoice, knowing it will mature your relationship with Jesus (Jam 1:3-4). Faith not tested is faith not proven
