JCHS alum accepted to Mercer School of Medicine

Darquis Grant, JCHS class of 2018, was recently accepted to Mercer University School of Medicine. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Kennesaw State University, where he was involved in STEM research, held a leadership position in Student Government as the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, and was a member of the Wind Symphony.

After graduating, he completed a public health fellowship at the CDC in conjunction with Morehouse Public Health Institute. He learned about health disparities, population health, and conducted hemophilia surveillance research.

He considered Mercer as a top choice due to their commitment to serving rural and underserved populations, which is an experience he obtained during the CDC internship. Darquis enjoys volunteering at Beverly Knight Olson Children’s hospital where he interacts with children with various health conditions.

Grant has an interest in specializing in pediatrics, oncology, or neurology and has shadowed many physicians across multiple specialties.
