Ruby was born on June 4, 1930, in Jones County to the late Claude and Bertha Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart of fifty-three years, at the time of his passing in 2005, husband Cicero Turk, son; David Turk, daughter in law; Evi Turk, siblings; Leonard Roberts, Lillian Garrett, Maudlyn Meldrim and Elmyr Henderson.
She was raised in the Clinton Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. An avid sports fan of the Atlanta Braves, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. But no one was a more loyal supporter and fan to her beloved, Jones County Grey Hounds where she herself was an athletic stand out in sports. Cicero’s and Ruby’s adventures together took them to faraway destinations, which included, San Diego, CA, Newport News, VA, Jackson, TN, Raleigh, NC, Mexico, Canada, Egypt, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Ireland, Hong Kong, Venezuela, and The Holy Land. Their hearts always brought them safely back to their beloved Jones County.
Ruby will forever be remembered by the Jones County Community by the many names she answered to, Ruby, Mama, Aunt Ruby, G-Ma, The Dairy Queen, “Queen”, The Queen of Jones County, Lil Bertha, and Fire Ball Roberts as her husband, Cicero, so lovingly called her. Her wit, unfiltered truth, tenacity, straight forwardness, big smile, warm welcome and if you were lucky enough to hear a truth whispered will be missed by all. A void has been created that will never be filled again. Ruby will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the Jones County Community.
Her memory will forever be cherished by those her loved her most, her family, son; Darrell (Teresa) Turk and their children; Joshua (Stacey) Turk, Ashley (Scott) Shepherd, Amanda (Michael) Amo, Justin (Mckenna) Turk, great-grandchildren; Jordan, Anslee, Cade, Tate, Ava, Aiden, Addi, Lennox, and Waylon. Daughter; Donna (Lloyd) Ingram, and their children; Jessica (Justin) Cobo, Jake (Autumn) Thompson, Andrew (Brooke) Ingram, Alexis Ingram (Ethan), great-grandchildren; Addison, Riley, and Oliver, and the late, David Turk and his children Julie Bush, Chrissy (Chuck) Thom, great-grandchildren, Charlie, Avery, and Sally.
