(John 8:36) Memorial Day is when we remember the sacrifice that patriots have made to secure, protect, and maintain our freedom as Americans. It has been purchased with blood. It takes blood to be politically free so reflect on those who gave their lives defending America so that we could have the freedom to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.
Just as it takes blood to make us politically free, it takes blood to make us spiritually free. The blood of Jesus. His blood sets us free. In the war against sin and evil, Jesus shed His blood on the cross.
By doing so He has won that war. And for those of us who have asked Him into our hearts, His blood has washed us clean of sin and broke the chains that sin had placed on us. The blood of Jesus has set us spiritually free!
Remember our patriots. But more important, remember Jesus. As great as the sacrifice of American patriots was, what the Son of God did on the cross is even greater.
Thank God for giving His “only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
