Three bags of marijuana found

Deputy Elrod was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle pass by with no visible tag lights.

Elrod caught up to the vehicle, activated his blue lights and conducted a traffic stop. When the deputy made contact with the male driver, he immediately could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Elrod asked the male driver if there was marijuana inside the vehicle and the male stated that “there should not be.” Deputy Sullivan arrived on scene to assist, and Elrod had the male exit the vehicle while he conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. In the center console of the vehicle, Elrod found three bags of marijuana. At that time, the male driver was placed in handcuffs and was transported to the Jones County LEC by Deputy Sullivan. The male driver was issued citations for possession of marijuana less than one ounce and a written warning for the tag lights.

Wanted person

Deputy Elrod was on patrol when he was alerted to a vehicle traveling down Hwy. 49 that indicated the registered owner may have an active warrant out of Monroe PD in Walton County, GA. The alert also indicated that the vehicle had suspended registration. Elrod was in the area and observed the vehicle pass his location. The deputy pulled out behind the vehicle and activated his blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. Elrod made contact with the female driver and verified she was the registered owner of the vehicle. The female was asked to exit the vehicle and she was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Jones County LEC to be booked and picked up by Monroe PD for the active warrant.

June 30

Someone to talk to

Deputy Elrod was on patrol sitting at the old Mattie Wells Elementary School when a male subject approached him and asked if he could speak to the deputy due to him having a difficult time and just wanted someone to talk to.

Elrod sat and spoke to the male subject and the male asked the deputy for a ride to Macon off Pio Nono Ave. Elrod asked for Deputy Riberio to come to his location to give the male a ride. When Riberio arrived on scene Elrod asked the male subject for his name and ran the subject’s information through the GCIC/NCIC system. The check came back to show that the male had an active warrant through Wilkinson County for failure to appear. The male subject was placed in handcuffs at that time and transported by Deputy Riberio to meet with Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office at the Wilkinson County line.

July 1

Wanted out of Henry Co.

Deputy Elrod was alerted to a vehicle with expired registration traveling northbound on Gray Hwy. Elrod was able to locate the vehicle and confirmed through the GCIC/NCIC system that the vehicle did have expired registration and confirmed there was no valid insurance on the vehicle. Elrod got behind the vehicle and activated his blue lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the deputy made contact with the male driver, the male immediately informed Elrod that he probably had a warrant out on him. Elrod had dispatch run the male’s information and confirmed he indeed had a warrant out of Henry County for probation violation for a traffic offense.

Dispatch also confirmed that his license was suspended. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County LEC by Cpl. Sullivan for booking. Elrod issued citations for suspended license, no insurance and a warning for expired registration.
