The Back to School Bash will be held at Clifton Ridge Middle School on July 22 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., so students can get school supplies and resources needed before school starts.
Joy Carr, Jones County Family Connection coordinator, said she’s excited for the event this year, and can’t wait to see families out getting their school supplies from the event.
“The Back to School Bash will be at Clifton Ridge Middle School this year on July 22, and we have 15 different community resources that will be there,” she said. “We will have lots of information for families, and lots of giveaways. We have enough backpacks for over 1,000 students, so we are ready to go.”
All Jones County students are welcome to come to get school supplies. Carr said they are thankful for Clifton Ridge Middle School for letting them host the event at their facility this year and students and guardians should come see what they have that day.
The coordinator said parents and grandparents have really appreciated the Back to School Bash over the years. She said the school supplies provided won’t be everything the students may need, but they won’t start off the school year empty handed with the school supplies provided at the event.
“This is a great event to get students ready to go back to school. We want to show our students here in Jones County we are invested in their education, too. This is a great opportunity for them to have school supplies a few days before school starts, so they are ready for that first day,” she said.
Carr said they will have backpacks of different colors available, notebooks, folders, pencil bags, pens, pencils, glue sticks, markers, crayons, and more for students at the Back to School Bash. She said it’s the basic supplies to get students started. Vendors will be there with more supplies, and for parents to get information from them.
Carr said her favorite thing about the Back to School Bash each year is seeing students excited to start back to school. She said this time of year is a rush to get ready for school with everything, and they are glad to make it a little less stressful.
The coordinator said if anyone wants to donate additional school supplies, they can take them to the Jones County Board of Education. School starts back Aug. 1, and she hopes everyone has a great start to the new school year.
“Having these items available for the students, so they can complete assignments and have the tools necessary to complete the job is important,” Carr said. “This is just a little something we can help with, and that’s part of being a community. We want to make sure our students are prepared for success.”
