Crime Watch

The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Jan. 30 – Feb. 4, 2023

July 22

Warrant executed

Deputy Elrod was on patrol in the Wheeler Road area when he received an alert on a vehicle that had just passed him with suspended registration. Elrod caught up to the vehicle on Gray Hwy. just inside the Bibb County line, activated his blue lights and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the female driver and asked for her information. Once Elrod ran the female driver’s information with dispatch, he was informed that the female was wanted out of Bibb County on an outstanding FTA warrant. The female was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County LEC by Sgt. Hunt to be held until she could be picked up by Bibb County. No charges were filed against the female.

Criminal trespass

Deputy Langston was dispatched to Joycliff Road for a trespassing report. Once the deputy arrived on scene, he was advised that a subject was on a property after being previously trespassed. Langston was shown a picture of the subject on the property. A while later, the deputy located the male subject next door and made contact with him. Elrod advised the male subject that he was being placed under arrest for criminal trespass. The male subject was transported to the Jones County jail for booking.

July 23

Warrant served

Deputy Elrod was dispatched to Hwy. 22 at the Baldwin County line to meet a Milledgeville police officer to transport a male subject to the Jones County jail for a felony possession of methamphetamine warrant. When the Milledgeville police officer arrived on scene, Elrod took possession of the male subject and transported him to the Jones County LEC where he was booked and served his warrant.
