The Back to School Bash held at Clifton Ridge Middle School July 22 allowed students in Jones County to get school supplies they need to start off school prepared and ready to succeed.
Joy Carr, Jones County Family Connection Coordinator was excited to see so many families at the event getting the school supplies they need and getting ready for that first day back to school.
“We had all of our vendors at the Back to School Bash to share information with Jones County families and give out additional school supplies. We had lots of volunteers to give out the book bags, and there was a line of people ready to come in,” she said. “We were all really excited to help students and guardians get what they needed.”
She said the Back to School Bash was important because it helped students in the community get what they needed to start the first day back to school more prepared. She said the community has the student’s backs and wants to see them successful this school year.
“The students got a book bag and a school supply kit that had notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, highlighters, and more. It was a starter pack. Each of the vendors had different things as well, such as extra notebooks, pencils, erasers, paper, and other supplies. They also had information for those people who needed it,” Carr said.
The coordinator said the vendors who were at the event were Central Georgia Technical College, Tri-Co Go, the Jones County Health Department, Jones County Family and Community Engagement, Jones County Headstart, Sickle Cell Foundation, Life Link of Georgia, Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, First Choice Primary Care, Community Health Works, Jones County Family Connection, Community Health Care Systems, River Edge, Paul Sheets State Farm, Jones County School System Nutrition Department, Jones County Public Library, Kelly Services, and Jones County Transportation.
Carr said the school supplies help the students with their education, because they are able to have the tools they need to complete assignments. She said this may not be all the school supplies they need, but it was a step in the right direction.
She hopes everyone has a great school year, and she’s happy they could help families in the community another school year. School starts back Thursday, Aug.1, and Carr hopes everyone is looking forward to that day.
“I was so excited to see the kids at the Back to School Bash,” the coordinator said.
“Parents were excited for them to be starting back to school, and I think the kids were excited, too. I like seeing everyone ready to return back to school on a positive note with things they need to learn properly.”
