“at the name of Jesus every knee should bow” (Phil 2:10) The name Jesus is profaned today as never before, actually used as a cuss word. Its mocked and shamed by people.
But the Father will have the last say. He has given Jesus, His Son, a name above all names. It will be a name that will be honored and revered.
Rebellious man may profane that name now, but to the glory of the Father, all men will bow to the Son one day.
We get a glimpse of that bowing in John 18:5-6. The officers had come to arrest Jesus.
He asked whom they sought and they replied Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus responded “I AM he”. In the KJV the word he is in italics, meaning it wasn’t in the original text. What Jesus said to the mob was “I AM”. This is the name of God (Ex 3:14).
When Jesus said His name I AM, this army, some 600 to 1000 men, “went backwards and fell to the ground”. At His name, by a blast of glory, these soldiers, officials, and temple guards, collapsed to the dirt, “bowed their knees” if you will, to Jesus.
Every kneel will bow at the name of Jesus. By love for Him, or by a blast of glory, or by the force of an angel, every knee will bend to the name of Jesus. His name will be revered and never again profaned.
