The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Nov. 22-24, 2024.
Nov. 22
No insurance, no registration
Lt. Pennamon was on patrol when he received an alert from his in-car CGIC system regarding a vehicle with suspended registration and no valid insurance. Pennamon located the vehicle on Bill Conn Parkway and initiated a traffic stop. Pennamon made contact with the female driver and advised her the reason for the traffic stop.
The Lt. asked the female if she was able to obtain insurance at that time and the female advised she could. The female driver was issued three citations and allowed to call for someone to take her to get insurance on the vehicle.
Nov. 23
No license
Corp. Sullivan was patrolling the area of Highway 49 when he got an alert from his in-car license plate reader. The alert identified a vehicle with suspended registration and no valid insurance. Sullivan conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Highway 49 and Oak Valley Dr. Sullivan made contact with the female driver and asked if she had her driver’s license. The female subject advised Sullivan that she did not have her license.
The female gave her name and date of birth and at that time, Sullivan ran her information through the GCIC system and learned that she does not have a driver’s license.
The female driver was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Jones County LEC. The female was issued citations for driving while unlicensed, suspended registration and no insurance.
Hit and run
Corp. Sullivan was dispatched to the area of Holloman Road in reference to an accident. When Sullivan arrived on scene, he made contact with a female subject that advised she and her friends were at a residence when they heard a loud crash. The female advised Sullivan that when they heard the crash, a male subject came inside the house and stated he hit her car. The Corporal asked the female subject where the male was, and the female complainant advised that the male subject either ran and locked himself in his house or ran in the woods. The female also advised Sullivan that the male subject has warrants and that was why he fled the scene.
Other witnesses told Sullivan the same story. Sullivan then secured a warrant for the male subject’s arrest for leaving the scene of an accident/hit and run.
Nov. 24
Alert from Flock Camera
Officer Farley received a Flock camera alert on a vehicle showing an expired tag. Farley initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at that time. The officer advised the male driver the reason for the stop.
Farley obtained the male driver’s information and ran it through the GCIC database, and it came back to show the male’s driver’s license had been suspended. Farley had the male step out of the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. The male driver was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for booking on the charges of driving while license suspended and expired tag.
Warrant executed
Deputy Elrod was on routine patrol when he observed a familiar male driver pass by him. Elrod knew that the male subject was wanted out of Jones County. Elrod was able to locate the male subject and arrested him without incident. The male was transported to the Jones County LEC for booking.
The vehicle was turned over to a friend per the male’s request.
