Search the scriptures… they are they which testify of Me (Jn 5:39).
Finding Jesus in the Old Testament. He’s there.
Not by the name Jesus, but He’s there. He told people in His day to investigate the scriptures and they will find Him--and the only scriptures the Jewish people had back then was the OT. Some folks claim the OT is no longer relevant for our times, but not true. Jesus is in the OT, and that makes it relevant for ALL times.
So where is Jesus in the pages of the OT? The first place is in Gen 1:1 “In the beginning God”. The Hebrew word for God here is Elohim which refers to a plurality, more than one.
This is the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. This Elohim is used again in Gen 1: 26: “And God said Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness”. The Trinity is mentioned 4 times in this verse: Elohim, Us, Our.
And John 1:1 confirms that Jesus is in Gen 1:1 by saying: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”--that Word being Jesus.
So right off the bat, Jesus, the Son of God, second member of the Trinity, the Word is mentioned in the very first verse of the very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible. Jesus in the OT.
