In the midst of all of the winter scenes from last week’s rare weather event, the snow and ice also forced an alteration of JCHS athletic events.
Last Wednesday’s dual wrestling match against Houston County was cancelled with multiple basketball games also postponed.
Tuesday and Friday’s home games against Ola and Stockbridge were put on hold, postponed to be played this past Wednesday with the Stockbridge game now pushed to either Feb. 5 or Feb. 6.
With those changes, JCHS will now contest a total of six games, all region contests, over a maximum of 13 days. Jones County hosts ELCA and McDonough next Friday and Saturday.
The new end-of-season slate also sets up a make-or-break region title span for the Lady Greyhounds. Unbeaten in the region, they will now face Union Grove and Stockbridge, the second and thirdplace teams in the region, in consecutive games to end the season.
