–George Sheffield I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. (Ps 40:1) Do you wait patiently for the LORD to act in your life? David did, but most of us, unlike David, tend to wait impatiently for the LORD. We just don’t like to wait. But when it comes to God working in our lives, answering our prayers, in most cases, waiting is involved.
God, who knows the end from the beginning (Isa 46:10), knows when it’s the perfect time to respond. He is never early. He is never late. God works on His timetable, not by our clocks, so His timing is impeccable, precise. And we need to rest in His timing.
It’s a dangerous thing to rush and get ahead of God. Taking matters into our own hands only makes matters worse.
Remember, God already has the solution to your concern before you ever had the concern.
David had to learn to be patient. It took trials in his life to develop patience as he waited on God. We too must learn patience. It’s through life’s trials we learn to wait patiently for God (James 1:3-4), maturing our Christian faith.
And while it’s good for us to be patient with God, I am so thankful that God is patient with us.
