Do you walk--live--in the comfort of the Holy Spirit?
Jesus wants you to. Jesus is the one who calls the Holy Spirit the Comforter, referring to the Spirit as the Comforter four times (Jn 14:16,26/ Jn 15:26/ Jn 16:7--KJ). So how does the Spirit bring comfort to God’s people?
REST--He gives our souls rest in Jesus. The world gives turmoil, but Jesus says, “I will give you rest…rest unto your souls.”
PEACE--the Spirit gives us Jesus’ peace, a peace that passes all understanding no matter what we face.
CONFIRMATION--the Spirit confirms our salvation by bearing witness to our spirits that we are the children of God.
EDIFICATION--the Spirit teaches us all things, guiding us into all truth because He is the Spirit of truth. He helps us to spiritually discern the meanings of Scripture.
COMPANIONSHIP-- the Spirit will always be with us. He will never leave us, but He will dwell with us and in us.
Wherever we go, He goes.
FEAR--the Spirit will teach us the healthy fear of God, a healthy reverence of the Lord. Throughout the Bible, this fear of the Lord is equated with wisdom and blessing.
POWER--the Spirit gives us power to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus so others can be saved. He gives us power to live out Christian principles, to do the works God desires us to do. Without Him we cannot bear fruit for God.
The comfort of the Holy Spirit is a gift from Jesus to you as His follower. Walk in it. Live in it. Rejoice in it.
