Two region matches in the books, two region wins for the Lady Greyhounds.
With the venture into the region play, the challenge was expected to pick up for a Jones County team that coasted through a non-region schedule with the exception of state powerhouse FPD.
Even still, the Lady Hounds are 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the region after last Tuesday’s road win at Woodland. JCHS put things away early, jumping on the homestanding Wolfpack with three first-half goals.
Jones County is one of three teams in the region to wrap last week with a 2-0 record in region play, joining Locust Grove and Ola. The Lady Hounds host Locust Grove next Tuesday with Ola at Greyhound Field April 1.
Greyhounds fall to Woodland
The Greyhounds were unable to rally from a two-goal halftime deficit last Tuesday at Woodland in a 5-0 loss.
Jones County, which played its first two region matches on the road, will play at home in three of its final six region contests. That frame of the season may present a chance for JCHS to make up ground in the standings as three of those upcoming opponents — Stockbridge, ELCA and Ola — are in the bottom half of the region standings.
