Robinson wins under the lights at Starr’s Mill

CROSS COUNTRY

Most meets during track and field season end up being contested during daylight hours. Jones County’s distance runners were part of an outlier to that last week, shining under the bright lights of the Friday Night Lights at Starr’s Mill event.

The Lady Greyhounds’ Addison Robinson was the best of any runner bearing the purple and gold, running to a first-place finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 11:12.83. Close behind her in fourth was Lilly Palmer with a time of 11:54.24. Jones County also had a strong run in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:26.58 by Isabella Sanchez being good for a finish of sixth in a field of mostly teams from the metro Atlanta area.

In the boys’ 3200 meters, Luke Thornton took fifth with a time of 9:37.55 while Tyler Marshall’s 10:10.77 brought home a showing of 12th.
