Hounds driven by effort in final stretch

SOCCER HOUNDS

As the season winds towards its conclusion for the Greyhounds on the soccer field, it’s not lost on them that there are fewer and fewer chances to compete as the same group.

The Greyhounds’ season concluded region play this past Tuesday.

“We only have a few of these left. This might be the last time that we play together as this group,” Greyhounds head coach Nathan Robertson said.

JCHS definitely showed a drive to finish strong last Friday at McDonough, as its three goals scored in a 6-3 loss were a seasonhigh for region play as well as the second-most scored by the Greyhounds this season. That willingness to get back going came after last Tuesday against Stockbridge in a 10-0 loss to the region-leading Tigers.

“The big thing we’re preaching is effort. There are some things that we can’t control, like (other team’s) speed, so you have to have effort,” Robertson said. “These guys are going to run into things both here and in life where they have to choose whether to fight or give up, so that’s what we’re trying to tell them in the last few games.”
