The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department June 17-22, 2025.
June 17
Several active warrants
Inv. Hall and Sgt. Walker conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The male passenger was found to have several active warrants through Bibb County.
The passenger was placed under arrest and transported to the Jones County LEC by Sgt. Walker.
June 20
Out for a delivery
Deputy Pruitt was patrolling the area of East Virginia Lane and Griswoldville Road when he observed a vehicle go through a stop sign without even slowing down. Pruitt pulled into the roadway and activated his blue lights and siren. The deputy caught up to the vehicle near Tanner Terrace. The vehicle kept going and crossed over the train tracks and turned onto Largo Drive. The driver slowed down as if to pull over but kept going. The driver then turned on to North Robbie Drive and then stopped. Pruitt radioed dispatch and gave his location, tag number and description of the vehicle he stopped. The deputy approached the driver’s side door and made contact with the male driver and advised the reason for the stop.
Pruitt asked the male subject why it took so long for him to pull over. The male advised the deputy that he did not see the stop sign and he was out for a delivery. Dispatch advised Pruitt that the vehicle had a suspended registration and no valid insurance. Dispatch also advised the deputy that the male driver had a warrant out of Houston County. Pruitt had the male exit the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. The deputy advised the male subject that Houston County did want to pick him up in relation to the warrant and Pruitt would be issuing the male citations and have the vehicle towed. Sgt. Walker arrived on scene and stayed with the vehicle until the next wrecker service could tow the vehicle. Pruitt transported the male driver to the Jones County LEC where he was issued citations for failure to stop at stop sign and a citation for no proof of insurance. A verbal warning was also given for the tag being suspended and no insurance. The male subject was then turned over to jail staff.
June 21
Using cell phone while driving
Officer Holloway was monitoring traffic on the Gray Bypass at Gray Highway when he observed a driver holding a cell phone while driving. The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle on Gray Highway at Landmark Pt. Blvd.
Holloway made contact with the male driver and advised the reason for the stop. The officer then obtained the male’s driver’s license and ran a check through the GCIC system. The information came back to show that the male had a warrant out of Bibb County for failure to appear on a traffic violation. Holloway had dispatch confirm the warrant with Bibb County. The male driver was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County LEC without incident.
Suspended registration/ active warrant
Lt. Pennamon was sitting stationary at Gray Bypass and GA Hwy. 11 when he ran a tag number on a vehicle to check for valid registration and insurance.
The information came back to show that the registration on the vehicle was suspended. Pennamon pursued the vehicle and made a traffic stop on GA 11 at Braswell Lake Road. Pennamon made contact with the male driver and advised the reason for the stop.
The lieutenant then went back to his patrol unit and entered the driver’s information in the GCIC system. The information on the male driver came back to show that the male was wanted on an active warrant from Bibb County Sheriff Office. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Pennamon took the male subject to the Bibb County line and turned him over to a Bibb County deputy. Pennamon gave the male driver a citation for driving with a suspended tag and a court date appearance.
June 22
Suspended license and open container
Officer Holloway was patrolling the area of East Clinton Street when he observed a vehicle that Flock cameras indicated as having suspended registration. Holloway ran the tag number on the vehicle, and it came back to show that the tag was suspended.
Holloway made a traffic stop at East Clinton Street and Pinewood Drive.
The officer made contact with the male driver and advised him the reason for the stop. When Holloway asked the male for his driver’s license, the male advised the officer that he did not have his license on his person. Holloway ran the driver’s information through the GCIC system, and it came back to show as being suspended all. At that time, the male driver was taken into custody.
When Holloway was performing an inventory search of the vehicle, he found an empty container of an alcoholic beverage located in the driver’s side door pocket. Holloway also located a metal cup in the center cup holder containing what smelled consistent with an alcoholic beverage. The male driver was transported to the Jones County LEC and turned over to jail staff without incident.
