The Statewide Bible Reading Marathon, based on 2 Chronicles 7:14, is an appointed time before the King of the Universe, that has become a national and international movement. On this day, Scripture will be boldly declared in more than half of the states in our nation.
Many countries around the globe will participate, including nations where it is illegal to be a Christian!
Christians in Georgia’s 159 counties will come together on Monday, July 14, at 7:14 AM, at their county courthouses, for a united purpose - the public reading of the Word of God.
Each county has a specific portion of scripture to read. Collectively, and within an hour, every verse from Genesis to Revelation is declared out loud, releasing God’s blessings over our state, our nation, and throughout the earth. This will be Jones County’s 7th year participating. Our reading will take place on the front lawn of the Jones County Courthouse. This should conclude no later than 8:00 a.m.
The 21st century has been proclaimed the ‘International Century of Bible Reading’ by millions around the world who recognize the Bible as the inspired Word of God to mankind which is profitable for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is recognized as the one true revelation from God, showing Jesus as the way of Salvation, Truth, and Life. It brings comfort, guidance, and enrichment in the lives of millions of men, women, and children throughout the centuries.
All Scripture is essential to prepare us to be the people God wants us to be and to accomplish the purposes for which He created us. America was founded upon biblical principles and Judeo-Christian ethics as taught in the Bible. President Andrew Jackson referred to the Bible as “the Book on which this Republic rests” and President Abraham Lincoln described the Bible as “the best gift God has given to man.” Many other great national leaders expressed similar sentiments.
Regular Bible reading renews the mind, transforming the life of the individual. This ultimately affects the lives of those in the family, the local community, the state, and the nation.
The decline in the moral fabric of our country can be directly traced to the time when the reading of the Bible was removed from our schools.
God’s promise is unchanging, but conditional, as indicated by the word “IF.” His response is determined by our obedience to the 4-step process that we are to implement on a 24/7 basis. We must HUMBLE ourselves, continually PRAY according to His principles, SEEK Him by staying in His Word, so that we become more like Jesus, having the mind of Christ, and TURN from anything we know is sinful. “IF” we are obedient, and follow His instructions in a consistent, earnest and sincere manner, “THEN” God does His part. The Statewide Bible Reading is an amazing global movement of God! Make it a point to stand with our brothers and sisters in Christ across our state, nation, and around the world. Why? Public participation demonstrates you are NOT ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and you recognize God’s Word as the most powerful force in all of creation, causing hearts to change.
God’s word is alive, it never dies, but does accomplish His intended purposes. (Isaiah 55:11) The spoken Word of God launches into our spirits, goes forth over our community and throughout the earth, releasing truth, freedom, revelation, and blessings wherever it goes. The results of this Bible reading will bless both the reader and the hearer, our community, state, and nation. It will bless the whole earth. Perhaps the most important reason anyone should participate is because it is an act of worship that honors God.
There are blessings in reading the Word aloud, even in our private times. Speaking the Word, and then hearing it, is like a double challenge that moves us to obedience, and changes us to become more like the Word, rather than the world. Scripture speaks often of reading the Word aloud. Paul instructed Timothy, & quote; Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture & quote; (1 Timothy 4:13). He desired to have his letters read aloud to the believers (Colossians 4:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:27). John the Apostle wrote “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3) This is a community-wide event and I strongly urge everyone to make it a priority to participate in this appointed time of declaring the blessings and healing power of God’s Word over our community. God will honor your sacrifice of taking a stand for Him at this time.
Bring your children and grandchildren. Just think of the potential impact of bringing them to this event!
This could be a life changing event for them that has eternal heavenly rewards.
I realize Mondays are not the favorite day of the week for many. However, for those who participate in this special time of Bible reading it will be a Magnificent, Marvelous, Momentous, and Memorable Monday.
