As far as football goes on the collegiate level goes, Will Patterson has seen plenty.
Now, he’s set to take bring that experience and perspective to the Greyhounds as their offensive line coach.
But Patterson is no stranger to central Georgia. In fact, he lives rather close to the JCHS campus. Not only was he the offensive line coach at Baldwin last year, but his college experience included eight years at Mercer along with five at West Georgia. He coached tight ends and fullbacks at Mercer prior to coaching the same position group at West Georgia.
Now, after a coaching career that entailed both coaching and time on the recruiting trail that included Middle Georgia high school football, Patterson is now firmly within the high school ranks.
“We live two minutes from the high school, so when the opportunity came up with Coach Montgomery, it was definitely exciting,” Patterson said. “I know the area. I’m a Middle Georgia guy, so being able to be at the program like Jones County, it was super-attractive.”
Another selling point? Montgomery himself.
“We actually played against one another in high school, so we go back a long time,” Patterson said. “I know the tree that he comes from, how he runs things. High school is new to me, so seeing someone’s plan on how to like to do things, it’s super attractive.”
