Arthur James “Jimmy” Goolsby, 83, of Gray, passed away June 12, 2026. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Gray Methodist Church, 121 Gordon Street, Gray, GA. Roy Fickling and Reverend Brian Litch officiated; the family greeted friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Jimmy was born November 27, 1942, in North Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Arthur James Goolsby Sr., and the late Louise Catherine Martin. He attended Jones County High School then Middle Georgia College and graduated from The University of Georgia. Jimmy was a successful real estate developer and worked as a real estate conservationist. When not working, he enjoyed hunting and traveled around the world to hunt. Those trips supplied him with many stories and memories to share with his friends and family. He was a member of Clinton Methodist Church. In addition to serving the community in his church, he was a member of the Jones County Rotary Club as well as the Lions Club and was a faithful member of the Emmaus group of Gray Methodist Church.
Jimmy was a friendly person who never met a stranger greeting everyone with a smile. Everyone who knew him will remember his generosity, strength and devotion to his family.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Jones (Peter) of Jasper County; grandchildren, Davis Jones (Sarah), and Nate Jones; brother, Bobby Goolsby (Susan), of Conyers; sister, Sandra Sowell Scales of Dunwoody; nephews, Robert James Goolsby (Taylor) and Brandon Sowell (Linda); nieces, Dana Louise Goolsby and Elizabeth Sowell; greatnephews, Ryan Sowell, Peyton Sowell, Blakely Goolsby, Miles Goolsby, Kip Fuesting; great-nieces, Abby Sowell and Hannah Sowell, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Goolsby.
