Jessie Jackson Hobby Sr.

Jessie Jackson Hobby Sr. passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, at Grady Atlanta Hospital after a brief illness. Jessie will be honored by his family at a later date.

Born on November 27, 1943, in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Rube and Vollie McDaniel Hobby. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Hobby and seven siblings. Jessie proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Jessie was a retired construction superintendent and took his work and family responsibilities seriously.

He was an old school gentleman and a jack of all trades in his ability to fix anything. His family could always count on Jessie to be hardworking, supportive and take care of them when hard times came. Jessie practiced and taught; you work hard for the things you want. He enjoyed his pond where he could fish with his family.

His grandson Jase was the shining light in his life that he loved dearly.

Jessie’s devotion and love will be a lasting inspiration to those he leaves behind.

Jessie is survived by his children, Nicole Lowery, Jessie Jackson Hobby Jr., and his cherished grandchildren, Jessie J. Hobby III, Ashley Hobby, and great-grandchildren, Jase Karnes, Braelynn Hobby, Graysan Hobby and A.

J. and sister, Beatrice Whitten, and many nieces and nephews.
