Johnny was born on March 10, 1968, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 1316 and was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and dependability. Johnny was often the last person to leave the job site, always ensuring the work was completed the right way.

Johnny honorably served two terms in the United States Army. He carried the values of service, loyalty, and commitment throughout his life. Above all else, Johnny put his family first. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved.

Johnny enjoyed watching sports, playing a good game of pool, and especially spending time fishing. He had plans to follow his wife, Kamillah, in faith and become a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, but his illness prevented him from doing so.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of twenty- one years, Kamillah Blakes; his children, Jelisa, Toni, Anijah, Christopher, Alicia, Lauren, Isabel, Curtis Blakes, and Joshua Washington; his mother, Judy Blakes; his siblings, Almena Blakes and Ronald Blakes; four cherished grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Johnny’s legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering love for those around him will be treasured by all who knew him.

Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory is honored to be entrusted with the care of the Blakes family.
