Last week, family and friends gathered at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester, GA to celebrate the home going of Leonard Howard Crane, Sr. of Warm Springs, GA.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred McDaniel Crane and Lillie Pearl Pippin Crane, his beloved wife of 48 years, Linda Olivia Humphries Crane, and his brother, Jerome Crane. Leonard served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and always spoke of his term of service with pride and honor.
A native of Jones County, GA, Leonard returned from his time in service to our Country, married his late wife, Linda, and raised his family in the small town of Round-Oak before his career in the logging industry took he and his wife to Warm Springs where the two would reside until their deaths.
Those who knew Leonard will cherish his unique sense of humor, his thirst for knowledge, and his intense capacity to love. He forged and fostered friendships with people from all around this State and Country lasting a lifetime. Further, as an alumnus of Jones County High School, he served as class president and coordinated reunions with classmates over some fifty years after graduation.
He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, Lynda “Denise” Jones (Randy), and Leonard H. Crane, Jr. (Lisa), his beloved children. Michael “Micky” Crane (Diane) of Gray, and Wendell “Ricky” Crane (Peggy) of Byron, his surviving brothers; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Last but certainly not least, Ms. Martha Smith, of Warm Springs, who provided him love and companionship over the last eleven years.
Leonard’s life was one comprised of love, service, dedication, and laughter.
He is remembered by all as a true testament to Christianity and Integrity. Leonard was laid to rest at Meriwether Memorial Garden in Manchester on July 14, 2026, beside his loving wife Linda.
