Dear Editor,

Les Dames Magnifique will sponsor the second Juneteenth Festival on June 29, 2024, at Carol’s Park in Gray from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. To purchase a booth or a food truck position, each will cost $30. Deadline to secure a spot is June 4, 2024. Prospective vendors should notify the Program Chairperson, Mrs. Debra D. Purnell at 478-986-7278 as soon as possible. Fun activities to be included are as follows: face painting, corn toss, horseshoes, chess, bingo and connect four.

Members of Les Dames will donate the games; all winners will be awarded prizes. Mrs. Evelyn Hill will secure local police officers and firemen to keep check on the attendees as the festival progresses throughout the day. She will also emcee the program part, which includes local church choirs and dance groups. Mr.

Milton Appling will DJ the session of the festival.

Sincerely, Carol Stewart

Annual photo fundraiser

Dear Editor,

For the past 44 years Jones County Department of Fire Rescue / EMA has sponsored an Annual Photo Fund Raising Program to help purchase equipment for our Fire Department and EMA. Effective May 17, 2024 representatives will be visiting our neighborhoods going from door to door asking to support our Annual Photo Program. All of the representatives are bonded, licensed, and registered through the office of Georgia Secretary of State. The representatives are also required to render an extensive back ground check and submit a personal photo I.D. including make, year, color, and license plate number of each vehicle that the representatives will be driving. Also, each of the representatives going from door to door will have to surrender all of the said information to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Gray Police Department prior to entering our neighborhoods.

This fund raiser has been extremely helpful for many years by purchasing rescue tools, extrication equipment, personal protective gear, training equipment, and much more. For every donation submitted a 10 x 13 family portrait will be given free of charge as a way of saying thank you. All donations are tax deductible.

On behalf of the Jones County Department of Fire Rescue / EMA, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your past, current, and future support. Please call the Jones County EMA Office at 478-986-6672 for any information needed. Thank you very much.

Sincerely, Don Graham Jones County Fire Chief / EMA Director

Vote

Dear Editor,

When aliens from other countries are valued more than our Veterans, there is something really, I mean really wrong with that value. Liberals do not see that problem. If they did, wouldn’t you think they would have enough common sense to fix it or change it? Am I the only one that actually sees this as so wrong? We wish better for our children. You know, the dream of what you work for is yours. Now Biden and Liberals are just giving it away every day to the illegal aliens.

We need strength in a President and a backbone in a leader. The Liberals have neither to give us. How can you stop this? With a vote! Be a real American and vote!

Sincerely, Mary Ann Smith
