Today, I am announcing my intention to run for reelection to the Georgia House of Representatives in District 144. Serving our community has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am running to continue fighting for hardworking families, homeowners, and taxpayers who are too often ignored by powerful interests.
One of my top priorities has been fighting to ban school-zone speed cameras. These automated systems are nothing more than money-making machines for out-of-state corporations and local governments looking for easy revenue. Too many drivers have been ticketed through a system that lacks transparency and meaningful due process protections.
I stand firmly against greedy corporations profiting off the backs of hardworking Georgians, and I will not stop pushing to eliminate these cameras and restore fairness to our roads.
Property tax reform is another battle we must win. Families across our district are being squeezed by unpredictable reassessments and rising tax bills. That is why I am advancing House Resolution 250 to allow property to be assessed based on actual sales prices, bringing stability and fairness back to the system.
I also introduced House Resolution 1104 to give voters the power to approve a penny sales tax dedicated specifically, to rolling back property taxes.
Additionally, House Bill 1105 would provide long-overdue relief for seniors by exempting homestead property owners over 65 from paying school property taxes. Our seniors have spent decades paying into the system and have paid their fair share.
These efforts are about standing up for everyday Georgians not special interests, not bureaucrats, and not corporate profiteers. I am proud of the work we have done, but the fight is not over.
