The Greyhounds are off to the next round of postseason.
Jones County’s boys golf team came through in the clutch in last week’s area tournament, posting an overall score of 333. That was one lower than Ola, advancing JCHS to the sectional round, which took place earlier this week. Top finishers there will move on to the GHSA Class AAAA state tournament May 19-20 at Governor’s Towne Club in Acworth.
Jones County’s low mark was set by Barrett Beasley’s round of 81, but in a match where every stroke mattered, the across-the-board showing ended up making the difference. Cooper Perry had a round of 82 with JCHS also being led by Cash Bearden’s 84, an 86 from Ethan Lewis and 89 from Hayes Miller.
The Lady Greyhounds fell short of advancing in their region and were led by Karlie Hoffman’s 97 and the 99 of Sarah Davis.
