CROSS COUNTRY
After weeks of striving and working to be ready to go at the right time, the time arrives this weekend for the Greyhounds cross country teams. What’s more is that it’ll be home.
There’ll be no getting up in the early-morning, pre-sunrise hours for Jones County cross country runners this time, as on Saturday morning the Greyhounds will host the region meet on their home course.
The Greyhounds have excelled time and time again this year, winning first at multiple meets and holding their own against foes from the Atlanta area on occasion. The Lady Hounds have also met the challenge, staying right with area powerhouse programs such as Mary Persons and Bleckley County.
The buildup ends Saturday morning on Jones County’s home course as this time, it’ll be Jones County, not teams from Henry County, that’ll be going for a region crown on a course that they run multiple times a week.
Saturday’s action starts at 8:15 a.m. with the boys race with the girls to follow at 8:45 a.m. After those two races, in which each team will enter their top seven runners, the JV race comprised of all other runners will take place, wrapping up a morning of the crowning of region champions.
