Former Greyhounds part of new NCAA football video game

A day more than 10 years in the making arrived last week with EA Sports releasing its college football video game for the first time since 2013. Fans and followers of the sport have since flocked to play the game’s new edition. Those powering up to play in the past week have not only seen their favorite teams represented but also multiple Greyhounds, as well.

In years past, college video games were unable to represent players on game roster by name. The option for hard-core fans was to manually rename players as they were listed only by jersey number. But with the changing name and likeness rules now in place, many players have taken the opportunity to be portrayed. That means fans playing with or against East Carolina, Duke or Toledo on NCAA 25 will see some former JCHS standouts.

Appearing on game rosters are Javious Bond and Javion Clark for East Carolina, John Alan Richter for Toledo and Jontavis Robertson for Duke.

Each player’s info screen on the game shows basic info about them. That includes their hometown and tendency rating, providing game users with an overview of them.

Bond is the highest- rated former Greyhound on the gaming console with a rating of 79 with a tendency listed as an “elusive back.” His Pirate teammate Clark, rated at 69, is slotted as a “safety-hybrid.”

Richter, a former JCHS signal-caller, is rated at 71 with a tendency of a “field general.” Robertson, a Duke receiver, is rated at 71 with a “deep threat tendency.”
