Golf teams split with Lamar in addition to tourney play

Play of both the match and tournament varieties came the way of the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds last week, as both teams split with Lamar County as well as the boys finishing sixth in the Jim Hickman Invitational and the Lady Hounds placing seventh in the Bear Invitational. The JV boys also placed second at the Bear Invitational.

Playing what head coach Lance Pittman called their “best golf of the season,” the Greyhounds lost by one stroke to Lamar County, 153-152.

JCHS had four rounds of below 40 in that showing as Cash Bearden carded a 37, Cooper Perry had a 38 and rounds of 39 were turned in by Ethan Lewis and Dixon Dowling.

The Lady Hounds won easily with a score of 89 to Lamar County’s 122. Karlie Hoffman’s 43 was the low score for Jones County with other top performers being Sarah Davis’ 46, a 53 by Kendyl Thomas and a round of 54 by Ensley Barnes.
