One of the keys that a young team is in search for in the early part of a season is how it stacks up to teams that are more seasoned and used to frequent postseason appearances.
Such was the case on Tuesday night as Jones County welcomed Warner Robins to town.
Tough defense kept the Greyhounds in it against the Demons, trailing 41-33 going to the fourth quarter before Warner Robins came away with a 56-47 win against Jones County, which saw its record drop to 0-2 before Friday’s region opener at McDonough.
The Greyhounds kept their offense going against the Demons by way of balance. Rudy Bowden’s 13 points led the way, followed by the 10 of Jaylen Tolbert, eight points from Tyler Wold and seven from Chance Banks and Justin Ray.
Jones County gave itself a chance Tuesday by preventing the Demons from pulling away, trailing 15-13 after the game’s first eight minutes. Warner Robins bought itself a bit of cushion coming away from the half, outscoring JCHS by six in the third quarter.
