Greyhounds persevering through illness, injury

GREYHOUND SOCCER

Battling recurring injuries and illnesses, the Greyhounds showed plenty of resolve in a pair of losses last week.

“Right now, we’re just trying to get everyone healthy,” Greyhounds head coach Clark Sweatt said. “We’ve had multiple players out sick, with stomach bugs and the flu.”

After falling 2-1 at Locust Grove as the Wildcats got the game-winner in the second half, Jones County trailed 2-1 at the half on Friday against Stockbridge before the Tigers pulled away to win 5-2. Jones County got goals from Will Utley and another from Caleb Waters with Jacob Watts assisting.

The final minutes of the match were marked by Stockbridge picking up multiple cards from game officials and none by Jones County, a trait that Sweatt was glad to see.

“I’m proud of our team for how they kept their composure,” Sweatt said.
