Greyhounds show plenty of grit as end of season nears

BOYS SOCCER

With the postseason no longer a factor for the Greyhounds, the final few contests of the season are a test of how much pride and resolve they have. The past week showed that they have plenty of it.

Despite losing to Dutchtown last Tuesday 5-2, the pair of goals scored were the most for Jones County in three games. Those scores came from Brendan Waters and Yassine Errahimi. Waters actually had a two-point night against the Bulldogs as he had an assist on the other JCHS goal.

After hanging tough against Warner Robins before the Demons pulled away for a rainy 3-0 win on Friday, there was more resolve to show on Monday against Locust Grove.

The Wildcats came into Monday fighting for their postseason lives, locked in a four-way tie for second place, meaning they were one of four teams that could miss the postseason. But the Greyhounds did anything but make it easy on Locust Grove before the Wildcats prevailed in the second half to win 2-0.

The Greyhounds, 1-10-1 on the season conclude their campaign on Thursday against Locust Grove.
