The offseason officially ended for winter sports at Jones County High School on Monday. With Oct. 21 being the first day of full practices permitted by the GHSA, both basketball teams as well as wrestling took full advantage in holding official practice sessions.

Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds began the week with tryout sessions, seeking possible additions to either returning rosters from last year or to JV lineups. Both teams began practice with new coaches with the boys being led by Willie Reese and Takeo Gray for the girls following the departure after last season of respective coaches Buck and ChoRhonda Harris.

All three teams are coming off of success last year. The wrestling team finished within the top five at the state duals with both the boys and girls basketball teams advancing to the state tournament, the girls making it to the quarterfinal round.

The basketball teams will hold an alumni game Nov. 9, host Houston County for a scrimmage on Nov. 12 and open the season Nov. 15 against Putnam County.
