Greyhounds take first at invitational

GREYHOUND GRAPPLERS

Next week is one of the busiest ones of the early part of the Greyhound wrestling season with one dual tournament followed by the annual outdoor match in downtown Gray on Saturday.

Jones County has itself on a nice roll going into that span after taking first at Saturday’s McIntosh Invitational, beating out frontrunners such as McIntosh, Harris County, and Greenbrier.

Four first-place bracket victories led the Greyhounds, with the first-place hardware going to Noah Pieterick at 144 pounds, Arrie Martin at 165, Luke Thompson at 215, and Barrett Rosenberger at 285, a division in which JCHS finished first and second with Alex Hammond being the runner-up.

Jones County, whose seven technical falls in a time of 19:07 led all teams on Saturday, got plenty of contributions across the board to win by 11 points overall.

Dawson Walker was among them, taking second at 113 pounds after battling back from a loss in his second match. Also taking second was Nate Wilson at 150 pounds by going 4-1 overall after a 4-0 start.

Nate McDaniel claimed third at 132 pounds with other top finishers being Connor Lipford’s fourthplace finish at 157 pounds and Tripp Arnold’s fifth-place finish at 126 pounds.
