Greyhounds win two of three heading into break

As the break for Christmas arrived late last week for the Greyhounds, they did so having given themselves a nice gift by having played their best basketball of the season.

JCHS capped last week having won two of its past three games, coming just two points shy of a three-game winning streak in Friday’s 54-52 road loss to Hampton. That showing came after Tuesday’s 59-47 win against Woodland.

The close loss to Hampton was to a team currently fourth in the region standings. The Greyhounds are 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the region with a prime chance to move up from their current spot of seventh in the region standings. The new year will begin with the final two games to wrap up the first half of the region schedule, the first being Jan. 7 at Eagles Landing Christian who is one game and one spot up on JCHS in the region standings.

Jones County gets a golden opportunity to build momentum before then, hosting Southwest Macon on Dec. 28 and playing at Putnam County Jan. 4. Both games will serve as a measuring stick for JCHS as it lost to the War Eagles and Patriots earlier in the season.
