Gym Hounds rack up season-bests in finale

GYMNASTICS

The Gym Hounds are at a disadvantage against a majority of their opponents due to having limited practice time compared to those that they go up against.

That, in addition to facing a high level of completion did not faze Jones County during the course of the season, and this past Saturday’s final meet of the season was no different. Facing a group of teams that included the top two in the A-5A grouping, a strong balance of gymnasts led Jones County to a fourth-place finish.

Chloe Clark and Kennedie Dyer both had season-high scores of 8.6 and 8.8 on the vault, and Dyer also led the Gym Hounds in all-around. Cayl Milner and Autumn Clark led Jones County on the beam and floor as Kaylee Wilson stepped up in her first meet with varsity, setting season-highs in the vault at 8.6 and 8.0 on the floor.

For Mary Michael Bunn, a season-high score in floor routine in JV capped a seven-year Gym Hound career, making her the first with the program to compete from sixth through 12th grades.

In other JV results, Alexa Johnson and Kiersten Foreman had scores of 8.5 and 8.4, season highs with Kinley Babb leading the way on the bars with Maleya Burden having the top score on the beam and all-around. Anna Wilson’s 81.5 score on the floor was her season best.
