Hounds building on momentum

The blocks of which to build on continues to be put in place for the Greyhounds on the soccer field. As the final stages of Wednesday’s home match against Northside played out, Jones County got on the board thanks to a goal off the booming foot of Jacob Watts.

That score gave JCHS goals scored in two of their past three games after being held scoreless in their first five contests.

And for a team short on experience, that is absolutely something that new head coach Clark Sweatt says can aid in building a foundation.

“The goals are coming. The first few games, we had very few shots, and now we’re getting a lot more shots on goal. We’re changing things up and moving people around.”

And as more minutes tick off, more comfort sinks in for the Greyhounds in on-field alignments, helping to better anticipate where teammates may be to receive passes up and down the field.

“They’re playing off of each other,” Sweatt said. “They are building connection. They are building friendship and a beautiful love for the game.”
