On and off the field, Jones County’s summer work continued last week, leading into this week’s scheduled two days of offseason team activity sessions against Bleckley County.
The Greyhounds on-field work last week included players up and down the depth chart getting work, but there was a deep-dive toward team building as well with the week also including the Greyhounds heading to Warner Robins for a team outing at Rigby’s Entertainment Complex, where the Greyhounds took part in activities such as bowling, laser tag, arcade games and water activities.
This past week’s OTAs were at Bleckley County, a school of which JCHS has one common thread with defensive coordinator Will Conner being formerly on staff there. The Royals are also a steady postseason threat within their classification, having won no fewer than nine games the past three seasons and being a state quarterfinalist two years ago.
Next week will begin the final home stretch to the Greyhounds summer with the acclimation period leading into the first official day of pads July 29. The acclimation period is a five-day, no-contact period mandated for all players to do following the summer’s second dead week.
JCHS scrimmages Mary Persons Aug. 9 and opens the season Aug. 16 at home against Veterans.
