Jones County hosting State Duals Championships on Saturday

GREYHOUND WRESTLING

Eight wrestling teams will converge on Gray Saturday morning with one goal – winning a state duals championship. Jones County is the host for this year’s event, where each team will take part in a double-elimination format of dual-style wrestling, meaning that points earned in individual matches in each weight class between two teams will give teams the chance to earn points with the winner of each match advancing.

Teams from various parts of the state will be at JCHS vying for a championship, with hopefuls being from areas including west Georgia, northeast Georgia as well as the Atlanta area and northward.

“I think that we run as good of a tournament as anyone in the state. It’s big to have this tournament and for these schools and communities to come here to Gray,” Greyhounds head coach Adam Gillhouse said. “There will be lots of teams here from north of Atlanta. We’re excited for them to see what we have to offer. I feel confident that we’ll run a firstclass tournament.” Teams competing will be Harris County, Ola, Locust Grove, Cambridge, Cass, Eastside, Jefferson and Woodland Cartersville.

Admission for the day is $15 with wrestling set for a 10 a.m. start. Tickets are available for purchase on GoFan.
