GOLF HOUNDS
According to Greyhounds golf coach Lance Pittman, the closest competitor to Jones County in the region is Ola.
The Lady Hounds rose to the occasion in last week’s match between the two teams, getting a pair of sub-50 rounds from Keegan Goins and Kimber Kent to win by two strokes overall.
Jones County’s team score of 138 was led by a round of 40 by Goins and 46 by Kent, supported by Karlie Hoffman’s 52, a 56 by Ava Cribb and 58 from Sarah Utley.
The Greyhounds came up just shy of the Mustangs in the boys match with Ola’s round being 11 strokes lower. The loss came despite five golfers having rounds of 51 or lower, led by Austin Hester’s 42 and Ben Ridley’s 48. Other top scores were Braydon Coleman’s 50 and rounds of 51 by Jacob Bridgeman and Barrett Beasley.
