After a lull in the rigor of the schedule, the make-or-break portion of the season has arrived for the Lady Greyhounds.
Jones County’s hope of a region title or even a first-round home match in the state tournament hangs in the balance for the Lady Hounds in the current stretch of the season. It began this past Tuesday against Locust Grove and wraps up next Tuesday at Union Grove. The results of those two contests, sandwiched around Friday at home against Stockbridge, figure to have much to say about where JCHS ends up for the postseason.

“Realistically, our top four teams in the region are usually the top four,” Lady Greyhounds head coach Mikayla Coley said. “Were playing so well, I try hard not to overcoach right now.”
Jones County, 8-2 overall, improved to 3-0 in the region with last Tuesday’s 10-0 shutout of ELCA, overwhelming the Chargers from the start.
“The biggest thing we try to maintain in (games like this is) just trying to work on what we need to do and not just kind of getting silly and goofy,” Coley said. “Mostly, we just talk about focus points and about what we are we trying to achieve. (Tuesday), we wanted to take shots. I have a lot of girls who can put it in the goal. I just need them to trust that.”
