Region matches began last week on the tennis court for Jones County, and both teams found measures of success. The Lady Greyhounds won against Locust Grove and Ola with the Greyhounds splitting. The Lady Hounds got a clean sweep of Locust Grove with singles wins from Lyndsie Hanner, Chloe Scarborough and Mallory Herndon by scores of 8-2, 8-0 and 8-0. In double play, Emily Parks and Nahlia Richardson won 8-3 with Macie Miholen and Genna Maki prevailing 8-0.
Against Ola, singles wins came from Scarborough and Herndon scores of 8-2 and 8-0 with doubles wins by Parks and Richardson 8-4 and Miholen and Maki 8-0.
In the boys’ match against Locust Grove, JCHS took a 5-0 victory on an 8-2 win by Sid Giles, 8-3 by Matthew O’Neal and 8-0 from Kalyb Durden. In doubles play, Wesley Maynard and Landon Lagroon as well as Evan Randall and Drew Holder each won 8-0.
Against Ola, JCHS got a singles win by O’Neal by a score of 8-5 with Randall and Holder taking a doubles win as Ola won 3-2 overall.
Both teams play Thursday at McDonough and host Woodland March 11.
