Lake Jonesco offers venue for golfers of all levels

RECREATION SPOTLIGHT

Open since 1936, Lake Jonesco Golf Course offers golfers of a wide range of skill levels an 18-hole course of 6,544 yards from the longest tee to hit the links. The layout includes Bermuda fairways and greens with a course pro in addition to club and cart rentals.

“There’s not a lot of courses in middle Georgia with the elevation changes we have. It makes for some good views and interesting golf shots,” Jones County Parks & Recreation Director Bert Rosenberger said.

But there’s more to the course than its scenic aspects and sightlines. Regardless of the level of play a golfer may see themselves, a course such as Lake Jonesco is one that’s a benefit for them, Rosenberger explains.

“We’re open to different skill levels. We get a lot of people who are young and starting out and a lot who have been playing for around 30 years,” he said. “The good thing about it is it’s a relatively short course. You don’t have to be able to hit the ball a mile to do well there.”

Plus, it’s an option for locals to spend time on the links close to home.

“It’s a good course for our community.

Lake Jonesco, it’s a good course that makes it affordable to everyone, no matter what skill level. You can play here either weekly or monthly without breaking the bank,” Rosenberger said. “It’s a good place to get your skills up. It’s a good place to where you can get a decent amount of golf in for a good price. It’s a great home course for people to have in Jones County.”
