Mayhem season ends with first postseason trip since 2021

ICE HOCKEY

The Macon Mayhem’s most successful season in five years came to an end over the weekend as Macon was swept by top-seeded Peoria in the best-of-three opening round of the SPHL President’s Cup Playoffs. The Mayhem dropped the first game of the series at home by a score of 2-0 on Thursday as Josh Boyko had 23 saves for Macon and Peoria’s Garrett Devine scored a pair of second-period goals.

The Rivermen clinched the series on their home ice Saturday, breaking a 1-1 tie in the third period. Macon’s goal on Saturday came from Khaden Henry.

Macon’s 58-point regular season was their most in a campaign since the 2020-21 season, which was shortened following COVID-19 and also did not include all of the teams in the league.
